Hello Local Friends!
I don't know about you, but I have had my fair share of BBQ's and cookouts over the past few days. I'm not complaining - I love grilled EVERYTHING. Moreso, I love being around people I love, outside in the sunlight, enjoying good food.
It's just wonderful.
The Independence Day holiday weekend is only one of many more cookout weekend's to come. Some people spend a majority of their summer nights grilling things for dinner. And many people come up with events, just for an excuse to party and cookout.
You may think I am setting you up for a Grill Recipe. If that is the case, I apologize. Today I am not bringing you a meal, but a super tasty treat/snack that is great for bringing to cookouts. Whenever I am invited to a cookout, the main dish is usually already taken care of. Sometimes I have the opportunity to bring a side dish, which I gladly oblige. Often, though, I feel rendered useless, when the hosts have taken care of everything for the guests.
So I have a few of these tasty treat recipes on hand, easy and quick to whip up, so I do not show up empty handed. And if I am honest, I just really love tasty treats, and love having an excuse to make 'em, bring 'em, and pop 'em in my mouth.
THESE ARE SCRUMPTIOUS. I had them for the first time, actually, at a cookout. I had NO idea what they were, and upon first glance, was a little suspect. They looked like golden little blobs. But then I took a bite. And then I ate, like, 20. They are big winners!
•1 package of Butterscotch Morsels
•1 can/package of Chow Mein Noodles
1) Melt butterscotch morsels over a double-boiler
2) In a bowl, combine melted morsels and chow mein noodles.
3) Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper. Drop chow mein mixture by large spoonfuls into small jumbles (about 2-3 TBS per jumble).
4) Refrigerate until jumbles are hardened.
This recipe lends itself to some creative liberties. Since Nestle makes an assortment of chips/morsels, I encourage you to try using different flavors: chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate, mint, etc. I've tried chocolate, and it turns out fantastically!
Hope all your cookouts are tasty!
